About
Siskamedia, established in 2016, serves as an umbrella for projects developed and produced by Midlands-based artist Emmeline Hartley, including numerous short film successes such as BFI NETWORK-backed ‘Keep Breathing’, and her BBC New Creatives short, ‘The Body With No Face’.
Emmeline and her close collaborators frequently participate in film competitions like the Sci-fi London 48-hour Film Challenge and the 5 Lamps Films 24-hour Film Challenge, winning first place three times. In 2019, they also produced a slate of 12 short films with the Pauline Quirke Academy in Leicester, working with 130 young people aged 6-18.
Seeing In Colour
Following the success of ‘Keep Breathing,’ Emmeline has been collaborating with sex education consultant Rebecca Jennings to create an innovative story-development framework, ‘Seeing In Colour’, supported by Innovate UK. This project aims to maximise social impact by helping young audiences develop critical thinking and emotional literacy skills, with the goal of reducing sexual violence and harassment in the UK.
The ‘Seeing In Colour’ formula plays a pivotal role in the development of Siskamedia’s most recent creative endeavours in both film and theatre, driving thought-provoking, boundary-pushing narratives that explore complex issues and present morally ambiguous perspectives as a means of sparking meaningful dialogue and potential solutions.
